Chelsea are still in the market for a new striker this summer.
Ivan Toney has been linked with the Blues, while Victor Osimhen is also an option for Chelsea.
There have been plenty of rumours about Chelsea this summer, and some of those have been shot down.
Speaking on The Athletic FC Podcast, David Ornstein has been discussing some of the strikers who have been linked with Chelsea, and he says that Tammy Abraham isn’t likely to be joining Chelsea this summer.
This comes after Abraham was linked with a £20m move to West Ham.
Tammy Abraham isn’t re-joining Chelsea
Ornstein shared what he knows about Abraham and Chelsea’s striker search.
“Chelsea have been linked with numerous strikers. They have looked at multiple names, they spoke to the representatives of Jonathan David, they have been linked with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Tammy Abraham, but I don’t see Tammy Abraham returning to Chelsea,” Ornstein said.
Tammy Abraham isn’t what Chelsea need
Tammy Abraham is a decent striker, but he’s not quite at the calibre that Chelsea need.
The Blues need a striker who can consistently score goals at the top level, and, unfortunately, Abraham isn’t that man.
The striker hasn’t exactly been in the best of form in recent years, and while he has a decent Premier League season under his belt, he’s not as proven as an Osimhen or a Toney.
There’s still a chance Abraham could be on the move before the deadline. The striker is being linked with West Ham, and that is a move that could make a lot more sense.
There are still a number of strikers whose situations need to be resolved before the end of this transfer window, and Abraham could get a move.
Chelsea need a new centre-forward before the end of the summer, but they’re unlikely to bring Abraham back to Stamford Bridge.
